Turkish University Chooses Spectra Precision GNSS Receivers and Total Stations

Economy and Precision for Survey and Cadaster Academic Studies

Corum, Turkey – January, 2013 – The Hittite University School of Corum Department of Mapping and Cadaster has purchased two Spectra Precision EPOCH 50 GNSS receivers and eight Spectra Precision FOCUS 8 total stations for academic study and research. “The new Spectra Precision units were chosen for their economy and precision. They strengthen the education and research laboratories used by our more than 165 students,” according to Ibrahim Murat Ozulu, lecturer. “The new units will help ensure that our graduates are ready to carry out the fullest range of tasks demanded of technicians and assistant project managers in today’s construction projects in private enterprise and government. In addition the units will be available for University scientific research projects,” Ozulu added.

The EPOCH 50 GNSS receiver, with its 220 channels, uses the full spectrum of GPS and GLONASS signals for outstanding satellite coverage and precise positioning, and each unit can be used as either a base station or rover. The FOCUS 8 total station with its rugged build, high quality optics, reflectorless technology, and Windows CE operating system has a large display to make data management simple. Importantly, both the GNSS and total stations use the same software for easy integration.

Hittite University worked with The Geomatics Group, Spectra Precision’s dealer in the region. Headquartered in Ankara, the Geomatics Group, is a 15-year-old engineering firm, software and middleware developer responsible for many GIS and GPS/GNSS technology-based projects in the region. It also markets and services survey equipment, provides solutions and organizes and shares positional data and special solutions with companies and institutions.
