“Surveying USA” Supported with Ashtech’s ProFlex 500 and ProMark 200

Kicking off National Surveyor’s Week in the U.S. this spring was an opening day “Surveying USA” event sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS).

The event included volunteer surveyors from all 50 states and a host of territories participating in the first-ever simultaneous nationwide GPS survey to commemorate National Surveyor’s Week.

During the events, surveyors occupied monuments in their vicinity, collecting and recording GPS data, and sending the data to State Coordinators to record the results on state monuments maps.

Taking part in Pennsylvania to promote the numerous benefits of GPS, was long-time Ashtech equipment user Joe Allegra, of Allegra Consulting in Scottsdale, Pennsylvania. The survey was held on March 19, 2011. Allegra participated using an Ashtech ProFlex 500 GNSS receiver and a ProMark 200 rover.

In California, Ashtech dealer, Electro-Optical Instrument Company organized a monument-surveying event that included high school student and their parents. The ProFlex 500 and ProMark 200 once again demonstrated their high degree of performance by providing the position of each of the visited monuments with the expected degree of accuracy.
